Hot-rolled Steel Slab Geometry Measuring System

Overview

The system is applied to slab surface inspection at 700-1200℃. Based on the actual situation of the production site and in the light of original production equipment, using the machine vision technology to form a annular measurement field through multiple CCD cameras around the production line. By using auxiliary lighting, the real-time optical images of the slab are received and sequentially converted to electronic and digital images, and grey images are obtained through computer system processing.

Casting billet guide cutting; casting machine length, width and thickness measurement; blooming mill vertical rolling and width measurement; Finishing mill length, width and thickness measurement and etc.

The slab geometry measuring system plays a very important role in hot rolling process. As it will be difficult to change shape once the steel slab is formed, it is critical to get real-time data of the slab dimensions and to revise the shape in time. In comparing with single control of width or thickness by normal mill, this system maximizes genuine rate and finished product rate, and ensures completion of production plans.

The finished product rate will be increased by more than 0.7 percent as a result of accurate control of data of camber, maximum finished product dimension, thickness deviation on plate and etc. Taking a production line with 1 million tons capability as an example, this system will bring more than 2.2 million dollar benefit.
